Atlanta Falcons get a household name in the 2025 NFL Mock Draft way too soon

Fantasy Pro’s Russell Brown released his 2025 NFL Mock Draft way too early for the first round of next year’s draft. Is it really too early? Absolutely. Are we still going to use this as a barometer for future Atlanta Falcons draft picks, even though we’re definitely not supposed to? Absolutely. In this one, Atlanta looks to add a familiar name for next year’s showing.

In Brown’s recent mock, the Falcons decide to find their premium passer in Texas A&M Edge Rusher, Nic Scourton.

If Nic Scourton was still at Purdue, he may already be ruled out. For now, we’ll wait and see what he does with the Aggies. With that, he is a powerful passer who quickly disrupts the backfield. According to PFF, he earned a 91.0 grade in 2023, which was third-best in the country. At 6-foot-4, 280 pounds, there’s a lot to be desired with the talented Edge Rusher who won’t turn 20 until August.

Scourton seems like the perfect fit for this scheme, considering how the Falcons value length and elite traits. Scourton even has the production to back up the gamble on his elite explosive traits. His 10.0 sacks on the season were tied for eighth in the nation and first in the Big Ten last season. He also added 50 tackles (33 solo), 15 tackles for loss, three pass deflections and a forced fumble before being traded to the Aggies this season.
