Shreveport man arrested for alleged involvement in rape case

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – A man has been arrested for allegedly raping a child under 10 years old.

On May 10, the Shreveport Police Department (SPD) Sex Crimes Unit announced the arrest of 40-year-old John Taylor, allegedly in connection with a sexual assault case.

Taylor is charged with first-degree rape and simple assault, specifically in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a child under 10 years old.

“The allegations against Taylor are disturbing and the Shreveport Police Department is fully committed to ensuring justice is served for the victim and his family,” the SPD news release said.

If convicted, Taylor could face potentially severe penalties, including the death penalty.

“Such consequences underscore the seriousness of the crime and law enforcement’s unwavering commitment to protecting the well-being of the most vulnerable members of our community,” the SPD said. “Crimes of this kind are abhorrent and will not be tolerated. Our Sex Crimes Unit acted quickly to arrest the suspect and bring justice to the victim.”
