Google’s Nest cameras now warn you if you left the garage door open

Google is updating its Nest smart home platform, introducing a new feature and making a long-overdue change. First, garage door detection is leaving the public preview program and will be available to “all compatible Nest Cam users” through the Google Home app. In the future, Nest cameras will notify you when you leave the garage door open, with no additional sensors or hardware required.

According to a Google Nest Help support page, certain requirements must be met. For example, homeowners must place their device either inside or outside their home with a clear, unobstructed view of the door.
