Mobile internet and bulk SMS services suspended in Haryana’s Nuh

Chandigarh, July 21 (IANS) The Haryana government has suspended mobile internet and SMS services in the state’s Nuh district for 24 hours till 6 pm on Monday amid concerns over communal tensions.

According to an official, the decision was taken to prevent the spread of rumours and misinformation on social media ahead of a planned religious procession.

However, SMS messages relating to banking transactions and mobile phone top-ups are exempt from blocking.
