DaQuan Jones Stats Projected for 2024 with the Buffalo Bills

One area where the Buffalo Bills have been weaker over the past two seasons is the defensive line. The Bills haven’t been able to produce a defensive line like they did in 2013-14 with Mario Williams, Kyle Williams, Marcell Dareus, and Jerry Hughes. This is a unit that had consistent rotation players until the arrival of Ed Oliver, who became a rising star last season. However, part of the reason Oliver has improved over the past two years is because of DaQuan Jones.

Since arriving in Buffalo, Jones has been a solid run stopper in the middle of the defense. However, a torn pectoral in Week 5 of last season sidelined him until Week 17, which hurt the Bills against the run. His presence makes a huge difference in terms of the scheme, something we’re now going to see under Bobby Babich. Jones won’t put up big numbers, but he’ll take on double teams that allow the linebackers to fly around and make plays.

One of the big advantages of Jones in 2024 is the emergence of Ed Oliver, who is coming off a breakout season last season without Jones for most of the season. By putting both tackles on the same line, knowing their high potential, Bills fans are in for a big treat when they take the field.

Before free agency, the Bills and Jones agreed to a two-year extension. Jones’ return is a key factor in strengthening the run defense, as well as helping develop rookie DeWayne Carter. As long as Jones stays healthy, he’ll once again do the hard work while others shine. If Jones can also create pass rush pressure, that would be an added bonus for a defense that already has a rushing defensive tackle in Ed Oliver.
