Britney Spears says she was mistreated by coverage of hotel incidents

Britney Spears shut down tabloid reports that she suffered a “breakdown” at the famed Hollywood hotel Chateau Marmont last week, citing increased media coverage of the incident.

TMZ reported that paramedics were called to the hotel late at night on May 2, where Spears was photographed with a pillow and a blanket wrapped around her. According to the report, she got into an argument with her boyfriend, Paul Richard Soliz, and injured her leg. Guests reportedly feared she was experiencing a “mental breakdown.”

Spears denied the reports but confirmed that she had been crying, but only because she had injured her foot. “No glitch!!!” she captioned an Instagram post shared on Monday. “I am a grown ass woman who is actually very naive in most situations!!! I’m just embarrassed that they caught me in my damn pajamas!!! I don’t feel loved…I feel mistreated.”

“I honestly wish my life was as wild as it was portrayed,” Spears also wrote. “Anyway, something actually happened to my foot and I may need surgery… I’m keeping my fingers crossed, hopefully not, but I feel like I’ve been harassed and gaslighted and tricked into going out on the streets, even though my car should be there.”There!!!”

Spears explained in a previous Instagram post that she injured her foot after attempting to jump in her hotel room but falling. She said paramedics showed up at her door and “caused this huge scene” and claimed her estranged mother Lynne was involved. “I haven’t spoken to her in six months and she called right after the incident, before the news broke,” she said.

The singer settled her divorce from Sam Asghari last week. The two separated last August after 14 months of marriage. Spears also settled her ongoing legal battle with her estranged father Jamie Spears last month, stemming from the termination of her 13-year conservatorship in 2021.
