Pakistani troops kill 10 militants responsible for attack on military base | Pakistan News

Pakistani troops killed all 10 militants who attacked an army residential complex in Bannu in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Monday.

The militants who are Pakistani Taliban A splinter group led by Gul Bahadur had rammed a vehicle loaded with explosives into the outer wall of the complex, killing eight soldiers and injuring others.

The splinter group claimed responsibility for the attack, which took place early Monday. The military responded quickly and eliminated the attackers in an 18-hour operation that ended on Tuesday.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and other politicians condemned the attack, but praised the security forces for their “timely and effective response” to prevent a major disaster.

The military said the suicide attack caused part of the wall to collapse and damaged surrounding infrastructure, killing the soldiers, but the quick response of security forces prevented further damage and loss of life.

Pakistan The military adds that it has repeatedly expressed its concerns to the Taliban government in Afghanistan, “calling on it to deny the continued use of Afghan soil by terrorists and to take effective action against such elements.”

The military said the Pakistani armed forces would “continue to defend the homeland and its people against the threat of terrorism and take all necessary measures they deem appropriate against the threats emanating from Afghanistan.”

This attack is the latest in a wave of militant attacks in northwest Pakistan on the border with Afghanistan, for most the Pakistani Taliban (TTP)an ally of the Afghan Taliban.

The TTP has intensified its attacks on security forces since the Afghan Taliban seized power in 2021. There was no immediate comment from Kabul on the attack.
