Bun B’s Gives Away 1,500 Trill Burgers in Houston After Hurricane

Houston, TX

Bun B is doing his part to help remedy the damage caused by extreme weather in his hometown.

A Category 1 hurricane named Beryl hit the city of Houston earlier this week, causing massive power outages across the Texas region.

Thursday (July 11) marked the fourth day of the ongoing storm, which is also when rapper UGK set up a booth at One Church at Bethel’s Family in the affected metropolis to hand out more than 500 smashburgers from his Trill Burgers establishment. His establishment did a similar thing the same day at a Kroger on E. Sam Houston Parkway.

Although his restaurant is closed until further notice due to the aforementioned conditions, the veteran MC has taken it upon himself to feed the residents of H-Town while the weather calms down.

On Saturday (July 13), his restaurant teamed up with Levi’s and gave away an additional 713 burgers to celebrate the city’s original area code, bringing the total to more than 1,700 burgers.

Bun B has found huge success with Trill Burgers, and he recently opened up about the difference between his backgrounds in rap and fast food.

In an interview given at the end of February to 85 South Comedy ShowHe spoke about his change of direction to become a restaurant owner and the freedom it has given him in recent years.

“A lot of people think this rap is going to get you wherever you want to go,” he said. “No, they want to know how you got there; what are your skills; what did you work hard for and train for; how does that translate to other areas?”

The Texas legend said his restaurant, which started with pop-ups before expanding to a physical location last June, began to grow once he used his connections in the music world to get into major festivals.

“That’s all I needed with that burger, was the opportunity to cut through all that bullshit and just put the burger in front of motherfuckers and let them try the burger,” he said. “So I took the burger everywhere I could go.”

Bun recalled his experience at Coachella, where the burger joint set up a booth in 2023. He said that while he couldn’t get in as an artist, he had priority parking and his own golf carts as a celebrity food vendor.

“I’m strutting around with these hoes, you know what I mean?” he said, before explaining that he liked setting up a booth at Rolling Loud because they let him do things his way, with transparency and flexibility.
