Grindcore is taken to a new level with unabashed hardness and ironic bloodshed. Diureticthe four-piece band from Philadelphia combines an acoustic assault with black humor in a fast and dirty package. Zero days without incidentsthe band’s first 7-inch record, will be released on July 12th via Strange Mono Records.

Inspired by classical influences such as Napalm Death And terroristDiuretic takes the flavors of grindcore that are driving and melodic, with fun headbanging riffs that cut through the “noise.” Singer Alyssa Rorke ventures into her first heavy band with Diuretic, enjoying the creative freedom of the lyrics and expressive harsh vocals. Guitarist Alex is rooted in the grind sound, has her origins in punk and understands the accessible ethos of the genre, embracing the philosophy that if punk is defined by speed, grind is its greatest exaggeration.

drummer Peter and bassist rose previously played together in Cavemen (formerly Insane Earth). Rose is an accomplished musician and music educator, known as a guitarist in Sir Babygirland always equipped with the power (plus an extra-long cable) to jump into the pit during live performances. Pete is a lifelong musician, affectionately known as “TwistedPeteras a gentle metalhead who listens to the inaudible.

From writing and recording to the style of their releases, Diuretic has always kept it DIY. On their latest EP, as the riffs started to flow, the idea of an album themed around a workplace incident came up and the band kept going and never gave up. The result is Zero days without incidentsan absurd subject that really hits home. The band appeals to grindcore’s loyal fanbase, but also to those who aren’t fans of the genre, with the intention of showing them something they’ve been missing in this niche and getting them to enjoy the music and the dark humor. Said humor comes from the creation of Diuretic as a fun, collaborative effort where the band feels they can shed the “tough guy” attitude even while playing “tough guy” music.
