(PUEBLO, Colorado) – The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Pueblo Police Department (PPD) announced the arrest of an armed fugitive following a brief standoff in Pueblo on Tuesday afternoon, July 9.

According to the CBI, the PPD’s Investigations Division received a tip on Tuesday that 36-year-old Robert Jareth Pierce, who was wanted on multiple warrants from multiple counties in the state of Colorado, was at a warehouse in south Pueblo. The warrants against Pierce were for weapons offenses, drug violations and several cases of vehicular eviction. Pierce was described by police as armed and dangerous.

PPD detectives began surveillance of the storage unit and called the CBI for assistance. Detectives and agents were then able to confirm that Pierce was in the storage units. The PPD’s Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) was called in because the CBI spoke of Pierce’s “known violent nature.”

According to the CBI, Pierce was arrested after a brief standoff and was reportedly armed at the time of his arrest. He was taken to the Pueblo County Jail and arrested on his outstanding warrants.
