20-year-old accused of sexually abusing a 7-year-old girl

A 20-year-old man has been charged with the alleged sexual abuse of a 7-year-old girl and will appear before the Labasa Magistrate’s Court today.

According to police, the man, who was known to the family, offered to take the girl from her grandfather’s house, where she had been sleeping, to her mother on the night of June 27 after she woke up crying.

They say the man sexually assaulted the victim along the way before taking her home.

The girl told her mother about the incident, and a report was filed at the Nabouwalu police station.

The man was charged with sexual assault.
