ECST investigation leads to arrest and seizure of firearms (photo)

During the investigation into the shooting, an adult man was arrested on felony charges and several firearms were seized.

On Thursday, May 30, 2024, at approximately 11:15 p.m., North Precinct officers responded to a shooting in the 8600 block of North Lombard Street. When they arrived, officers found three empty shell casings. In addition, officers found three people who reported being threatened by a suspect who fired three shots into the ground.

The Enhanced Community Safety Team (ECST) took over the investigation and identified a suspect, Lindell D. Betts, 39, of Portland.

On Wednesday, July 3, 2024, ECST, with assistance from the Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) and the Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT), executed a search warrant on a home in the 9500 block of North Lombard Street. ECST found three firearms inside the home. The team also located and arrested Betts. He was transported to the Multnomah County Detention Center and incarcerated on the following charges: Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
