Sexual assault in Central Park: Police search for pervert who attacked sunbather

The Central Park The villain behind the brazen sexual assault on a sun worshipper on Monday afternoon is now the subject of a large-scale police manhunt.

According to NYPD Chief of Patrol John Chell, the disturbing incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. in the Great Hills section of the park at the corner of West Drive and West 104th Street.

Chell reported that a 21-year-old sunbather was lying alone in a meadow when the pervert approached her and exposed himself.

“She screams and gets up to run away,” Chell said. “He grabs her from behind.”

According to police, the madman tried to straddle the victim, but she managed to fight him off and escape.

Emergency services took the woman to the local hospital for examination, where she is currently being questioned by members of the Special Victims Division.

Meanwhile, the co-ops are searching for the suspect, whom police described as a man in his 30s, approximately 6 feet tall, with curly hair. He was last seen wearing a light-colored shirt and shorts, fleeing south along West Drive.

“Right now we are searching every part of the park for witnesses and evidence,” Chief Chell announced. “We are cutting the park into pieces.”

Kaz Daughtry, NYPD deputy chief of operations, also said police will use drone technology to search for the suspect.
