Police: Man arrested in connection with shooting in northwest DC

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said a man was arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred in northwest DC on Friday

Police said they responded to the 1300 block of 13 at around 1:12 a.m. on June 21^th Street because of a report of a shooting.

Officers said the victim was outside his car when one of the suspects attempted to steal his vehicle.

According to police, an altercation ensued in which a second suspect shot the victim.

The suspects left the crime scene in a car.

The victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

On Saturday, MPD arrested 19-year-old Elijah Hernandez of Northwest and charged him with assault with a dangerous weapon.
