32-year-old man from Andhra Pradesh killed in shooting at US grocery store

Amaravati:

A 32-year-old man from Andhra Pradesh was among four people killed in a shooting at a grocery store in the US state of Arkansas.

The victim from Andhra Pradesh was identified as Dasari Gopikrishna, a native of Bapatla district who had migrated to the United States just eight months ago.

He was working at the Mad Butcher grocery store in Fordyce, a small town in Arkansas, when a gunman opened fire there on June 21.

Gopikrishna, who was working at the cash register, suffered critical injuries. He succumbed to his injuries the next day in hospital. His family in Yajali in Karlapalem mandal of Bapatla district was devastated to hear the news.

Gopikrishna leaves behind a wife and a son.

When the gunman opened fire in the store and parking lot, four people were killed and nine injured.

Video footage has since emerged showing the attacker entering the store and shooting the man at the counter. When the victim fell to the ground, the shooter jumped over the counter and fled after stealing something from the shelf.
