Part of West Ashley Road closed after fatal accident

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) – Charleston Police officers are investigating a fatal crash Saturday afternoon in West Ashley.

The single-vehicle accident occurred on Ashley Crossing Drive between Beechwood Road and Dogwood Road sometime before 3:30 p.m.

The road is expected to be closed for several hours while the incident investigation team carries out its investigations.

According to Inspector Michael Gillooly of the Charleston Police Department, at least one person died as a result of the accident.

The Charleston County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the victim’s name.
