Police announce arrest in connection with fatal shooting in Arlington Height

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Pittsburgh police announced early Friday morning that they had made an arrest in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred earlier this week.

They said they arrested 37-year-old Jason Ingram and charged him with manslaughter, attempted manslaughter, conspiracy, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person and violating the firearms law.

According to Pittsburgh Public Safety, detectives from the Pittsburgh Police Fugitive Apprehension Unit and the U.S. Marshals Western Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force arrested Ingram on Friday evening around 4 p.m. in the 300 block of Arlington Avenue.

He was taken into custody without incident.

On Monday, police were called to the 3000 block of Arlington Avenue after a ShotSpotter alert indicated that six shots may have been fired.

When they arrived at the scene, they found a man lying in the street who had been shot multiple times. He was pronounced dead at the scene and later identified as Shawn Czeczely.

While examining the crime scene, police found 21 9mm shell casings at the intersection of Cordell Place and Arlington Avenue. They also determined that the vehicle near which the victim was found had been struck by gunfire, with bullet holes in the rear window and rear bumper.

By reviewing surveillance footage from the City of Pittsburgh Housing Authority’s camera system, police were able to learn more about the murder.

They saw that as Czeczely was about to enter the vehicle, the suspect fired shots toward the vehicle, hitting the victim and causing him to collapse.
