Houston Energy Data Software Platform Expands to Europe, Hires New Executives

It’s official. Amperon Holdings, a Houston-based AI-powered electricity forecasting and analytics services company, has operations in Europe.

The expansion, which co-founder and CEO Sean Kelly previously spoke to InnovationMap about, is official, the company announced this month. In addition to the expansion, Amperon announced Jon Ecker as Managing Director for Europe, and Kelsey Hultberg as Executive Vice President, Communications and Chief of Staff.

Now, European companies that buy and sell energy in the renewable energy producer, financial institution and utility markets can leverage Amperon’s AI and machine learning technology platform to access short- and long-term forecasts for their individual meters and generation assets. Houston digital health platform raises additional seed funding from new investors

A Houston-born digital advance care planning company has secured new funding from big names.

Koda Health was successful in oversubscribing additional seed funding with participation from AARP, Memorial Hermann Health System and the Texas Medical Center Venture Fund. The total amount raised was not disclosed and the round was led by Austin-based Ecliptic Capital.

The technology platform improves critical illness treatment and end-of-life care planning using a cloud-based advance care planning, or ACP, platform that partners with a internal support. Essentially, this allows patients to plan ahead and ensure that their wishes are actually implemented. According to Koda Health, this translates to an average savings of $9,500 per patient, as well as improved health outcomes. Continue reading.

Three Affordable Houston Neighbors Rank Among America’s 10 Safest Cities

Crime may be a concern for some Houstonians, but life is a little more relaxed just beyond the city limits.

Three Houston-area suburbs – League City, Sugar Land and Pearland – were just crowned among the 10 safest and most affordable cities to live in the United States, as declared in a new report from GoBankingRates.

The study, titled “50 Safest and Most Affordable U.S. Cities to Live in,” ranked the largest U.S. cities by population based on their average cost of living and crime rate. Crime rates were determined based on the number of crimes per 1,000 city residents from the FBI’s Crime Data Explorer in 2022, the year with the most recent data available. Continue reading.

Houston Airports to Explore Autonomous, All-Electric Air Taxis in Houston Area

A fleet of electric, autonomous air taxis is set to take flight in Houston, thanks to a partnership between a California startup and the Houston Airport System.

HAS announced a memorandum of understanding with Wisk Aero, a wholly owned subsidiary of Boeing, which recently announced a similar partnership with the city of Sugar Land. For the next year, the company will identify vertiport infrastructure at Houston’s three airports: George Bush Intercontinental Airport, William P. Hobby Airport and Ellington Airport.
