News Flash • Apply now for the Danville Police Youth Academies

Annual summer academies inform young people about police operations.

The Danville Police Department has opened applications for the Danville Police Youth Academy and Junior Youth Academy during the summer. Led by officers and staff from the Danville Police Department, this summer academy offers a behind-the-scenes look at what a career in law enforcement is really like. There are two summer courses: a one-day academy for youth ages 11 to 13 and a four-day academy for youth ages 14 to 18.

These behind-the-scenes academies are unlike anything you’ve ever experienced before. Youth have the opportunity to learn about the exciting careers of law enforcement through demonstrations in police tactics, forensic collections, report writing, investigations and traffic patrols, as well as a special tour of the Danville Police Department.

Registration for Danville residents is now open at www.danville.ca.gov/recguide. Registration for non-residents begins May 14 at 8 a.m. Advance registration is required.
