Kendrick Lamar’s sneak attack on Drake may have been discovered by fans

Fans following Kendrick Lamar’s feud with Drake believe they have uncovered a 2018 secret attack by the rapper.

Lamar and Drake, whose full name is Aubrey Drake Graham, have spent the last few weeks hurling insults and accusations at each other on a variety of tracks as the long-standing bad blood between the two reaches a boiling point.

The current war of words kicked into high gear in March when Lamar released “Like That,” a searing response to the Drake and J. Cole track “First Person Shooter.” While J. Cole quickly exited the chaos, Lamar and Drake attacked each other relentlessly on tracks that have captivated fans ever since.

This past weekend alone, the rappers increased their back and forth with the release of four new dissident tracks. In the tracks, they talked about each other’s families and made disgusting accusations at each other.

Despite occasional collaborations, the feud between Drake and Lamar has continued for more than a decade, with the rappers attacking each other in their music and media. As a result, fans have been scouring old media looking for signs of the bad blood since the current rap beef took shape.

On May 7, a fan reached out to X, formerly Twitter Share a screenshot of a 2017 Instagram post that showed sales figures for Lamar and Drake’s singles. The post, which showed Lamar had made more sales than Drake, was liked by Drake, who also shared a comment.

“Amazing to see how our music is moving!!!” Drake is shown writing in the comments section.

The screenshot was juxtaposed with a snippet of the video for “All the Stars,” Lamar’s track that was featured on the 2018 film’s soundtrack Black Panther.

“Can we take it back to 2018 when Drake congratulated Kendrick for surpassing him and Kendrick responded with a verse?” Black Panther Album that reads “Don’t Congratulate Me – I Don’t Like You,” wrote the X user who shared the post.

In the track, which featured SZA, Lamar rapped, “Tell me what you’re gonna do to me / Confrontation ain’t nothing new to me / You can bring a bullet, bring a sword, bring a morgue / But you can'” Me “Don’t bring me the truth / Fuck you and all your expectations / I don’t even want your congratulations.”

“I recognize your false confidence and calculated promises,” Lamar continued. “Everything in your conversation / I hate people who feel entitled / Look at me crazy for not inviting you / Oh, do you matter? Are you the moral of the story? You approve / Mothaf****, I don’t I don’t even like you.

At press time, the X post had been viewed more than 5.5 million times. Newsweek has emailed representatives for Lamar and Drake seeking comment.

“When I listen to many of his songs, I realize that he is speaking directly to HIM. This is crazy,” one X user said of Lamar’s feelings toward Drake.

“It’s so obvious why it personally annoys me when people say the beef is new,” the original poster replied. “It was 10 years of back and forth.”

While the title in question could be seen as a dig at the title, it likely also represents the tumultuous relationship between Killmonger and T’Challa, characters portrayed respectively by Michael B. Jordan and the late Chadwick Boseman in the Ryan Coogler-directed first episode be played by Black Panther.

The Black Panther The album features original music by Ludwig Göransson. Also included are original songs performed or curated by Lamar.

“All the Stars” was the first single released from the soundtrack album in January 2018. A total of three singles were released from the project, the others being “King’s Dead” and “Pray For Me”.
