SAUGERTIES, NY — A Saugerties man was arrested Thursday after allegedly having sexual contact with a dog, according to information from Saugerties police.

Police said Michael J. Cook, 39, of Saugerties, was arrested at 4 p.m. Thursday, June 12, on Washington Avenue Extension following a complaint.

According to Saugerties police, Cook was arrested after an investigation and charged with sexual abuse of an animal (a misdemeanor) and criminal damage to property (a felony). Police said Cook was arraigned in Saugerties Municipal Court and released on an honorary bond to appear in court at a later date.
