1 dead, 4 hospitalized after shooting in Fort Lauderdale

MIAMI – Fort Lauderdale police said one man died and four others were hospitalized following an apparent drive-by shooting Friday night.

Authorities said officers were called to the 2300 block of NW 8th Street shortly after 7 p.m. for a shooting and found five people with gunshot wounds upon arrival.

All victims were taken to Broward Health Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

According to investigators, all of the victims were adult men. One of the two was pronounced dead in hospital, one is in critical condition, and the other three are in stable condition and are expected to survive.

There was a strong police presence with at least twelve patrol cars on site.

Police cordoned off several blocks while detectives continued their investigation.
