Former Spandau Ballet singer Ross Davidson raped sleeping women and filmed himself molesting them, court hears – The Irish Sun

A former singer of the pop group Spandau Ballet filmed himself raping and harassing sleeping women, a court heard.

Ross Davidson – known to fans as Ross Wild – is also said to have forced himself on a victim when she refused sex six times a night.

A jury found that Davidson, 36, had a perverted desire to have sex with sleeping women and that many of them did not know they had been filmed until police showed them the shocking footage.

He is accused of rape and sexual offenses against five women between 2013 and 2023.

Davidson wore a light grey suit and pink shirt to the opening of his trial at London’s Wood Green Crown Court on Tuesday afternoon.

Prosecutor Richard Hearnden described the Scottish singer as “something of a sex symbol”, but said he also had “a darker side”.

Because he expects to get sex on demand, he resorts to rape and sexual abuse when he doesn’t get what he believes he deserves.

He told jurors that Davidson played the lead role in the West End musical We Will Rock You and joined the Spandau Ballet in 2018 after lead singer Tony Hadley left.

Of his stage name, Mr Hearnden said: “Wild was a bit of a sex symbol.

“He looks very good and is physically fit.

“He sings, plays guitar and is considered charming and charismatic.

“His dark side is not the first thing that many women and girls notice about him.

“But the women in this case can all testify to this dark part of his personality.

“Because it is alleged that he raped and sexually abused several young women.”

Davidson is said to have secretly filmed himself raping the first woman in October 2013 after an argument in his flat in Finchley, north London.

Mr Hearnden said the defence would argue the sexual assault was a role play in which the woman looked like a rape victim.

Davidson is said to have filmed himself fondling the breasts of a second woman.

The prosecutor stated: “According to the plaintiff, the defendant said he had a special fantasy.

“He said it was his fantasy, his desire, to have sex with a woman while she was sleeping.”

A third woman was allegedly sexually assaulted and filmed while sleeping during the Cannes Film Festival in southern France.

Davidson is accused of filming a fourth woman performing a sexual act with him without her consent and later raping her.

Mr Hearnden said: “She was used as a sort of sex slave.

“He wanted to have sex five or six times a night.

“When she said it was too much, he forced her to have sex.”

The fifth victim is said to have woken up and discovered that Davidson was having sex with her.

When he was arrested in 2021, he said all sex was consensual.

Davidson, who was released on bail, denies three counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault, voyeurism, intimidation and controlling behaviour.

The process continues.
