Moose mother attacked people twice, one had to be hospitalized with serious injuries

There were two moose attacks in the Winter Park, Colorado area this month, one of which resulted in a person being hospitalized.

According to Colorado Parks and Wildlife, the attacks involved the same female moose defending her young, and both attacks occurred within a 48-hour period.

The first attack occurred while the victim was walking his dogs on a leash. In that encounter, the person suffered only minor injuries, but the dogs were taken to an emergency vet with non-life-threatening injuries.

During the second attack, the same female moose trampled a runner. The runner was seriously injured and had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Signs have been posted in the area warning the public of potentially aggressive moose. Officials also urged people to remain alert and attentive in the area and recommended leaving headphones at home.

Never try to approach a moose. The best way to prevent an attack is to stay at least 70 yards away. If a moose attacks, try to put a large object such as a tree, rock or parked car between you and the animal.
