Fatal tanker crash in Elizabeth Township ruled accidental: coroner | Local News

A fiery tanker truck crash that killed an East Donegal Township man Sunday was an accident, according to the Lancaster County coroner.

Josue Vasquez, 31, of the 300 block of Rivermoor Drive, died Sunday of smoke inhalation and thermal burns, the coroner said, after his tanker truck loaded with asphalt left the road on Furnace Hills Pike in Elizabeth Township and caught fire.

Just after 6:30 a.m., emergency responders responded to the 1900 block of Furnace Hills Pike for a report of a vehicle on fire. Vasquez was found in the cab of the truck and was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 8 a.m

Police said Vasquez’s truck was traveling north of Furnace Hills Pike when it left the roadway and struck a utility pole, a fence, an embankment and a tree. The truck then caught fire.

The State Police investigation into the accident continues.
