CHENNAI: A 15-year-old schoolgirl was raped by two men last month after they mixed alcohol into her drink with the help of a woman at a birthday party in Saligramam. The crime came to light on Friday when the girl had stomach pains and told her sister about the attack. Following a complaint from the girl’s family, the police have arrested the woman, Pratisha Akira, a young artist in the film industry, and her boyfriend Somesh, a college student in his twenties, on Sunday.The search is ongoing for the other defendant, identified as Williams, who is also in his twenties.
Police said the girl, a Class 11 student, met Pratisha at a cafe in Anna Nagar and they became friends over time. Last month, Akira invited the girl to her birthday party at her apartment in Saligramam.
At the party, Akira, Somesh and Williams drugged the girl’s drink and she became unconscious after drinking it. Later, Somesh and Williams raped her.
When the girl woke up in the morning, she realised that she had been raped. Police said Pratisha threatened her not to tell anyone about the incident.
Search for third defendant continues
Pratisha warned the teenager that her friends would harm her if she Complaint to the police.
The girl remained silent for days, but on Friday she felt a stomachache and told her older sister about the attack. She was then taken to hospital for a medical examination. Her family filed a complaint with the police.
