UP: Minor girl raped by school principal attempts suicide after viral video

Circle Collector Sirathu Awadhesh Kumar Vishwakarma formed a team to investigate the case and arrest the accused.

After the police investigated the video and the victim’s family filed a complaint, charges were brought against the school principal.

The case was registered under sections 376 (punishment for rape), 323 (punishment for wilful causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), IT Act and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The girl attempted suicide on Saturday by jumping in front of a goods train on the Delhi-Howrah railway line, Officer Vishwakarma said.

The teenage girl suffered serious injuries after being hit by a train.

After receiving the information, the police arrived at the scene of the accident and took the girl to the district hospital for treatment.

According to family members of the girl, the girl attempted suicide because she was angry about the offensive video being shared online, he said.
