A woman is dead after a two-vehicle crash in Gloucester County

GLOUCESTER, Va. — Virginia State Police responded to Route 17 at approximately 5:15 p.m. and found a 1997 Acura CL sedan on its roof. The vehicle was traveling north when it veered left off the road and into the median. As it turned onto the southbound lane, the Acura began to roll over.

The Acura was hit by a Ford EcoSport (model year 2021), which then rolled over on its roof.

The driver of the Acura, Amber L. Velez, 39, died at the scene after being ejected from the vehicle. A 7-year-old male passenger is currently being treated at Norfolk CHKD for non-life-threatening injuries.

This crash remains under investigation.
