On Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 10:32 a.m., firefighters from Charles and Prince George’s County responded to a reported multi-family dwelling fire at 6016 New Forest Court in Waldorf.

When firefighters arrived on scene less than two minutes after the incident began, they found the fire burning through the roof of a two-story apartment complex. They requested a second alarm, which alerted additional firefighters from Charles, St. Mary’s and Prince George’s counties.

After walking around the building, crews found fire on the ground and first floors, in the attic and on the roof of one unit. The fire spread to neighboring units and threatened surrounding buildings.

The teams were on site for over two hours and had the fire under control in less than an hour and 25 minutes.

No known injuries were reported.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office responded and is investigating the fire. The American Red Cross was on site to assist the homeless.

Updates will be provided as they become available.
