Sexual Harassment Complaint: Revanna’s Domestic Help Alleges Sexual Abuse In Basavanagudi House | Bengaluru News

BENGALURU: A 47-year-old woman, who had filed a sexual harassment complaint against JD(S) MLA HD Revanna and his son and Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna at the Holenarsipura city police station, was brought to the legislator’s house in Basavanagudi here Mahazar (sting check) on Monday morning by the Special Investigation Team (SIT).

She had earlier told the SIT officials that she was also sexually harassed by Prajwal in this house. Earlier on Saturday, the officials had conducted a mahazar at Revanna’s house in Holenarasipura.




According to sources, the woman had to work at Basavanagudi house for around two to three weeks. The woman had previously said she worked in the household from 2019 to 2022.

The SIT team along with the woman reached the house at 11 am and completed the inspection at 4.30 pm. From the moment you entered the house, the entire process was recorded on video. They also received a detailed statement from her. An officer typed up the statement and read it to her before signing it. On April 28, a case was registered against Revanna and Prajwal under IPC sections 354 A (sexual harassment), 354 (D) (stalking), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 509 (word, gesture or intent) at Holenarasipura city police station Act) registers insulting a woman’s modesty).

Lawyer claims SIT did not follow procedures

Gopal, a lawyer, came near Revanna’s house during the proceedings and claimed that he was authorized by the MLA’s family to attend the mahazar on her behalf. However, the officers did not allow him to enter the house. Gopal alleged that the SIT did not follow standard operating procedure.

“The family gave me permission because Revanna is in custody and Bhavani Revanna has undergone a surgery. I attended the mahazar of two cases investigated by the SIT in Holenarsipur on May 4. On the same day, they issued another notice asking me to attend the Mahazar at Basavanagudi on May 6th. The officials called me on Sunday and Monday morning and asked me to be present at the Mahazar. When I came here they wouldn’t let me in. I have the right to open the door to the police; If they seize valuables from the house, they must record it and take my signature,” he told the media.

Defendant in police custody

Sathish Babanna, accused number 2 in the kidnapping case registered at KR Nagar police station, was remanded in police custody for eight days. SIT officials arrested him on May 3.

Officials approached the court on Monday and requested an arrest warrant against Babanna for 10 days in police custody as they needed to interrogate him.

The officials will take Babanna to the woman’s village from where he picked her up on a bike and later to the farmhouse of Revanna’s personal assistant Rajgopal in Kalenahalli. The team will also question him about the role of Revanna and Bhavani as the woman’s son had mentioned their names in the complaint.
