Tears as woman showed ‘naked’ picture of accused rapist cop

After an alleged rape of a teenage complainant at a police station in Sydney’s west, a sex crimes investigator took a nude photo of himself on a bed and sent it to the woman, a jury has heard.

Glen Coleman is on trial accused of sexually assaulting a 19-year-old woman and abusing his position with the NSW Police Force between March and May 2022.

The complainant, who cannot legally be named, burst into tears on Wednesday when she saw an explicit photo that Coleman allegedly sent her on the messaging app Snapchat in May 2022.

“I was sitting on the couch right next to my grandma and he disturbed me by asking me for photos,” she told a jury at Penrith District Court.

“He sent me a photo of him lying in his bed with his cock in his hand.”

The woman said she responded with a photo of her naked, tattooed back that she took while showering to prevent the detective from harassing her.

Coleman was accused of sexually abusing the teenage complainant at Windsor Police Station and two parks in western Sydney.

The 57-year-old pleaded not guilty to one count of abusing his public office to obtain the woman for his own sexual gratification, three counts of sexual intercourse without consent and six counts of sexual touching without consent.

His lawyer Joel Brook said his client did not deny having sex with the woman at the police station, but rejected claims that the acts were not consensual.

On Wednesday, the young woman said she felt forced to have sex with Coleman in an interview room.

Jurors heard she grabbed $70 that the detective had left on the table before she left because she was “pissed off.”

“I thought, you know what, shame on you, I’m taking the $70 because you made me do it,” she said.

Coleman had previously offered the woman $500 for sex or $400 for a lap dance after discovering the complainant had gone to a Sydney strip club for a job interview, the court heard.

The woman initially asked the detective for help after her cousin threatened to publish nude photos of her on the Internet.

She also later told him that she had concerns about her boyfriend’s behavior.

The woman ultimately confided to two friends in May 2022 what allegedly happened to the officer, the jury was told.

She showed them a Snapchat message from Coleman offering $600 for sex at a hotel and asking them to wear a lace thong.

“I realized I couldn’t get out of it for much longer and I felt really cornered,” she said.

Coleman was arrested in May 2022 and dismissed from the NSW Police Force in September that year.

The process continues.
