Karnataka cleric arrested for inciting his brother to rape his underage sister and raping her under the pretext of an exorcism

The victim’s mother filed a complaint at the Women’s Police Station and a First Information Report (FIR) was registered against the accused.

In a similar case, on May 12, police arrested a cleric in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, for allegedly raping one of his female students. The news came to light when the alleged video went viral on social media.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (rural) Vivek Chandra Yadav said, “The rape incident took place two years ago when the woman was attending some classes of a cleric named Zabbar. He had recorded some videos of the incident and forced the victim to develop a relationship with him, otherwise he would release the video.”

“Based on the complaint, we have filed an FIR under Section 376 (rape) and criminal intimidation (506) of the IPC against Zabbar and he has been arrested,” the official said, PTI reported.

However, the woman’s family had informed the police about the video a few days ago after it went viral on social media.
