Chiefs’ Rashee Rice is under investigation for alleged assault

Rashee Rice He is accused of eight criminal offenses in connection with a hit-and-run accident earlier this year. The Chiefs wide receiver has gotten into more trouble. He is now being investigated for alleged bodily harm.

At the heart of the investigation is that Rice allegedly assaulted a photographer at a Dallas nightclub Monday night, WFAA’s Rebecca Lopez, Rachel Snyder and Joe Trahan report. Police are interviewing witnesses about the alleged attack.

Rice, 24, is likely facing an NFL suspension for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy – which is currently the least of his worries given the allegations surrounding the March hit-and-run. It is unknown whether the ban will be lifted in 2024, but it is expected to be lifted at some point. Another incident will add to the second-year wide receiver’s distraction, potentially extending the suspension period or introducing a second suspension that occurs at a different time.

Rice, a 2023 second-round pick, did well to rescue the Chiefs from an ill-conceived wide receiver plan last season. The SMU product became a consistent presence in the second half of the season, totaling 79 receptions for 938 yards and seven touchdowns as a rookie. Rice remained a reliable target for Patrick Mahomes – in a season where few of them were present – in the playoffs. The two-time reigning Super Bowl champions have since made a major overhaul to their receiving corps. The Chiefs signed Marquise Brown and exchanged Xavier Worthy in Round 1. However, Rice is expected to continue to play a key role in Kansas City’s passing attack.

Rice was believed to have been racing in a Lamborghini SUV, causing a six-car crash on a Dallas highway in March. Rice’s vehicle reached a speed of 119 miles per hour shortly before the accident and the young wideout fled the scene. Rice later turned himself in. He is believed to be helping financially to cover the costs of the accident victims, although a civil lawsuit has since been filed. The 1.80 meter tall, 90 kilogram receiver did not appear at the start of the Chiefs’ offseason program, but took part in meetings virtually.

Out of Kareem Hunt To Tyreek Hill To Frank ClarkIn recent years, the Chiefs have seen a number of high-profile players get into trouble off the field. Charles Omenihu began his tenure in Kansas City with a six-game suspension for a domestic violence arrest. Clark and Hunt also served bans. The latter was suspended after the Chiefs waived him. This latest development from Rice will certainly be a story to watch for the defending champions.
