FAIRBANKS RANCH, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — A protester calling for a ceasefire in Gaza was arrested Friday in the Fairbanks Ranch neighborhood during Vice President Kamala Harris’ visit to the San Diego area for a political fundraiser, authorities said.

At around 3 p.m., Harris’ motorcade arrived in the 1600 block of Circa del Norte, where about 50 protesters were gathered outside the entrance gate to the Fairbanks Ranch community, Lt. Gavin Lanning of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.

“One of the protesters jumped in front of the motorcade to prevent Vice President Harris from entering the neighborhood,” Lanning said.

Authorities detained the protester blocking the car convoy, but another protester intervened, causing the first protester to run away.

Police said Anisa Rebecca Chaudry, 36, was identified as the second protester. She was arrested on suspicion of obstructing a peace officer and taken to the North Coastal Sheriff’s Station, where she was cited and released.

The protest ended after 45 minutes. There was no damage to property or vehicles and no injuries were reported.
