S. Sam Houston Parkway fatal crash: 1 woman dead, 5 others stable following rear-end crash in southwest Houston, HPD says

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A woman died and five others were hospitalized after a four-vehicle crash in southwest Houston Friday.

The Houston Police Department said the crash happened at 10900 South Sam Houston Parkway West Service Road around 9:25 a.m.

Police say a man was driving a silver Honda Accord westbound in the 9100 block of West Airport Boulevard and crossing the intersection of South Sam Houston Parkway West with a red light.

That’s when another driver in a silver Hyundai Accent allegedly ran a red light after failing to control her speed and struck the rear of the Honda Accord.

Police said a green Toyota Camry that was traveling eastbound on West Airport and making a left turn onto the service road was struck by the Honda, forcing it through the intersection .

A white Mack pickup truck, which was also heading east and making a left turn, was then struck by the Toyota, HPD said.

HPD said the driver of the Hyundai was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Honda and three of the passengers, including two minors and a woman, were taken to hospital and stabilized.

The identity of the deceased woman is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

Additionally, the driver of the Toyota was transported to hospital in stable condition. The driver of the Mack remained at the scene and suffered no injuries.

The fatal crash remains under investigation.
