Honolulu police said they made 33 arrests for “driving under the influence of intoxicants” from Friday to Monday.

The majority of arrests were for speeding and reckless driving.

On the island of Maui, 13 arrests were made for driving under the influence over the weekend of Graduation Day and Memorial Day after more than 1,700 vehicles were checked at eight checkpoints.

The MPD also arrested “nine additional people for various offenses, issued 23 citations, and towed six vehicles.”

Our number one goal is the safety of our community. This campaign underscores our commitment to ending drunk driving and its tragic consequences. We thank our community for nominating sober drivers, using rideshare services, reporting suspected impaired drivers, and for their cooperation and vigilance. Together, we can make our roads safer for everyone.
