Driver identified after fatal incident of aggression at the wheel

SPANISH FORK, Utah (ABC4) — Officials have released the identity of the man who was involved in a fatal incident of road rage in the last month.

According to Spanish Fork, 27-year-old Calvin Zakery Grace of Springville, Utah, was identified as the driver of the vehicle involved in the fatal crash.

According to Spanish Fork authorities, police were first called to the driving aggression incident shortly after 2:15 a.m. on April 26, 2024.

In a press release, officers said the suspect attempted to ram the victim but eventually crashed into a tree as he tried to escape police officers.

The complainant who reported the incident of driving aggression told police that the driver of another vehicle stopped next to him at the light and stared at him. The caller was driving on Highway 6 and 2550 East and told officers that the suspect had begun to follow him.

According to police, the suspect attempted to ram the victim after continuing to follow him.

An officer attempted to pull over a motorist near 400 East 300 South, at which point the suspect allegedly sped off and fled northbound, officials said. The officer lost sight of the vehicle but continued driving toward the area where the suspect was last seen.

“The officer located the suspect vehicle at 500 North 400 East where it struck a large tree in the front yard of a residence,” Lt. Cory Slaymaker of the Spanish Fork Police Department said in the press release.

According to the press release, rescue workers performed life-saving measures, but the driver was pronounced dead.
