French referees criticise Frappart incident

The French Referees Association (SAFE) expressed its condemnation on Monday after French referee Stephanie Frappart had to be escorted off the pitch by police following the Cup final between Panathinaikos and Aris on Saturday.

Frappart was approached by Aris officials after the match, which PAO won 1-0.

“Such attitudes show once again the total disrespect and absurd negligence towards the work of the referee and the bias of the officials in this game. There is still a lot of work to be done,” SAFE said.

It was added that the French referees were appointed at the request of the Greek federation for absolute neutrality for a match behind closed doors. It was said that four important decisions were made, all of which were correct.
