Two arrested for alleged rape of Ogun students

Two suspected rapists, Rotimi Boluwatife and Adeyemi Tosin, have been arrested for allegedly raping two female students, Alimo Karimu and Temitope Ojo, with drugged noodles in Ifo Local Government Area of ​​Ogun State.

A police source who was privy to the incident but is not authorized to speak to the media told PUNCH Metro on Monday that the students’ meals were laced with cannabis, which was used to cook the noodles during a visit to the suspects’ house.

It is said that the students left home in the morning to go to school, Sholu High School, Ifo, but one of them, Karimu, returned home with erratic and strange behaviour, which gave her parents a clue that she was under the influence of drugs.

After being questioned by her parents, she made a confession and also revealed the whereabouts of the neighbor’s child Ojo, who was said to be lying lifeless in the house of the alleged rapist.

The case was reported to Ifo Divisional Police Station by the parents of the victims and officers proactively responded to the case by visiting the house of the suspected perpetrator and found Ojo in an intoxicated state.

The men were arrested and confessed to raping the girls after adding illegal substances (the narcotic cannabis) to the noodles they ate at their home in order to sedate them.

When contacted, Ogun Police Spokesman Omolola Odutola confirmed the incident and gave a detailed account of the incident, with the suspects admitting to having committed the crime.

“On the 22nd of May 2024, at about 7:00 p.m., one Karimu Modinat ‘F’ of Olorunsogo District of Ifo and one Jamiu Jimoh ‘M’ of the same address came to the station and reported that their daughter, one Karimu Alimo, 17 years old and Temitope Ojo, 18 years old, left home at about 7:42 a.m. to go to Sholu High School, Ifo and that the said Karimu Alimo returned home at about 2:42 p.m. in unstable condition due to suspicion of drug abuse.

“They further stated that upon questioning, she stated that the said Temitope Ojo was lying helpless in a house. On receiving the report, the DCB proceeded to the said house where one 23-year-old Rotimi Boluwatife ‘M’ and one 29-year-old Adeyemi Tosin from Ite Egun area of ​​Ifo were arrested.

“Temitope Ojo was seen in the house in an unstable state of health. They were all taken to the station. The suspect admitted that he mixed the narcotic cannabis to cook noodles, which caused the two girls to fall asleep, and that they were both raped,” Odutola said.

PUNCH Metro reported on Friday that the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Command in Ondo State had arrested one Abraham Achibong for allegedly having a sexual relationship with his eight-year-old daughter in Ile-Oluji community in Ile-Oluji Oke Igbo Local Government Area of ​​the state.
