Atmore man arrested on drug charges – The Atmore Advance

According to authorities, an Atmore man was arrested on May 20 on possession and drug charges.

Atmore Police Department spokesman Sergeant Darrell McMann said in a press release that 32-year-old Rickey Maddox was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

McMann said on the day of the arrest, an APD officer conducted a traffic stop on East Sunset Drive around 8:30 p.m. for a license plate violation.

McMann said while speaking with the driver and passengers, the officer noticed one of the passengers, later identified as Maddox, acting strangely and asked for permission to search the vehicle.

“During the search of the vehicle, the officer discovered a glass pipe with crystal-like residue that field tested positive for methamphetamine,” McMann said.

Maddox was then taken to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
