Man arrested in connection with Bridgeport bank robbery – NBC Connecticut

A man was arrested in connection with a bank robbery in Bridgeport on Thursday afternoon.

Dispatchers received a panic alarm from the TD Bank on Lafayette Boulevard around 4:20 p.m. and later learned that an armed robbery had occurred at the bank.

Officers went to the bank, took a description of the suspect, and advised other officers that he may have been on foot in the area of ​​Highland Avenue and Washington Avenue.

Police on scene found a man matching the description at the Greene Homes Apartments on Highland Avenue. When confronted, the 28-year-old Bridgeport man complied and sat on the ground.

According to police, the man had thrown a black object under a nearby car. It later turned out that it was a replica firearm that looked like a Beretta Model 92 pistol.

Authorities said $1,350 was found in the man’s backpack. The amount was captured on video, counted with the bank manager and returned to the bank.

In the booking area, a note was found on the man, according to police. The man allegedly attempted to destroy the note and claimed it was a personal love letter. The note allegedly matched witness statements about a note shown during the robbery.

The man is charged with robbery, weapons forgery, threatening, obstructing an officer and destruction/tampering with evidence. His bail is set at $100,000.
