HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A suspect is in custody after being shot by a Houston police officer Wednesday morning in the Westwood neighborhood of southwest Houston, according to police.

According to HPD, an officer fired his weapon at the suspect at 10200 Lansdale Drive, near West Sam Houston Parkway South. The suspect then allegedly ran into an apartment complex.

In a later update on social media, HPD said the suspect was arrested in the 10100 block of Finchwood Lane after fleeing officers and jumping several fences.

SkyEye video shows the moment the suspect was handcuffed and taken into custody. He does not appear to have been seriously injured, although police have not confirmed whether that was the case.

It is unclear what charges the suspect faces or what led to the initial interaction with HPD.

ABC13 has a team on site working to gather more information.
