One was charged with raping a young child

A sailor accused of multiple counts of rape was among five people indicted by a Highland County grand jury on Tuesday.

Rufus Brummett, 50, was charged with three counts of rape, all first-degree felonies.

According to court documents for the first count, from April 9, 2019 to April 8, 2020, Brummett engaged in sexual acts with the victim, who was nine years old.

According to court documents for the second count, from April 9, 2020 to April 8, 2021, Brummett engaged in sexual acts with the victim, who was 10 years old.

According to court documents for the third count, from April 9, 2021 to April 8, 2022, Brummett engaged in sexual acts with the victim, who was 11 years old.

In other charges, Kameron Robinson, 21, Lynchburg, was charged with one count of aggravated assault, a second-degree felony; one count of discharging a firearm on or near restricted premises, a felony of the third degree; and an expiration specification.

According to court documents for the first count, on or about February 15, 2024, Robinson knowingly caused or attempted to cause physical harm to the victim with a .450 Bushmaster Anderson firearm.

According to court documents for the second count, on or about February 15, 2024, Robinson discharged a firearm on or across SR 124, posing a substantial risk of personal injury or serious property damage.

According to court documents for the third count, the jury found and specified that Robinson had in his possession and used an Anderson .450 Bushmaster on or about February 15, 2024, and that the property was forfeited “due to its instrumentality in the commission or aiding and abetting.” to a crime.”

Logan Smith, 19, Washington CH, was charged with one count of burglary, a fifth-degree felony; and one count of grand theft motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony.

According to court documents for the first count, on or about September 22, 2023, Smith entered a commercial building with the intent to commit a theft.

According to court documents for the second count, on or about September 22, 2023, Smith stole a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, a motor vehicle and various other items without consent.

Also charged on Tuesday were:

* Nicole Hauptman, 35, Hillsboro, for aggravated possession of methamphetamine, a fifth-degree felony.

* Lori Greene, 48, sailor, for grand larceny from a protected class, a second-degree felony.
