Scheffler’s lawyer spoke to WLWT’s affiliate WLKY after his release: “We’ll just let it go; that is the extent of what we know. “It’s moving pretty quickly right now, but we’re going to move forward with the case as it comes,” said Steve Romines, Scottie Scheffler’s attorney. After his release, Scheffler issued a statement saying: “This morning I followed police instructions. “It was a very chaotic situation, understandably given the tragic accident that had occurred previously, and there was a huge misunderstanding about what I was doing.” I thought I never intended to disobey those instructions and today to focus on golf. Family of the man who died in the accident this morning. That really puts everything into perspective. Scheffler said the incident was a “big misunderstanding in the middle of a chaotic situation.” “I feel like my head is still spinning. I can’t really explain what happened this morning,” Scheffler said after posting a remarkable 5-under 66 that kept him in line for a second straight major championship.
