Two dead, another injured in shooting in Barrow on Friday…

Two people are dead and another was injured after what authorities are calling a murder-suicide at a Barrow County home Friday evening.

Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith said officers were called to the home on Georgia 82 near Holsenbeck School Road east of Winder around 8:30 p.m. and found three people with gunshot wounds.

“When we arrived, there were two people on scene who had passed away in the front yard of this residence,” Smith said. “Another lady was on scene and sustained a gunshot wound, but it was not life-threatening.”

Smith said the woman was hospitalized and is expected to make a full recovery.

The two men found dead were identified as Bradley Messer, 22, and Jeffery Orr, 58, both of Winder. Messer was identified by investigators as the shooter in the incident.

Smith said Messer was the son of the woman who was shot and Orr’s stepson.

“Messer first shot Mr. Orr, killing him, then shot his mother and then turned the gun on himself and took his own life,” Smith said. “(Messer’s mother) drove to the house, got out and noticed her husband, Mr. Orr, lying motionless on the floor trying to render aid. Then her son shot her.”

Authorities had not released a motive for the shooting as of Sunday afternoon.
