Man in custody after leading police on chase in stolen vehicle: SDPD (FOX 5/KUSI)

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A man is in custody after police say he ran from a traffic stop for a vehicle reported stolen and then fled from police on foot with a gun in his hand, San Diego police report.

Officers with the San Diego Police Department responded to calls about a stolen vehicle in the area of ​​the 5000 block of Logan Avenue in San Diego at 4:44 p.m. Sunday.


According to police, officers attempted to stop the driver, who then sped off, leading police on a brief chase. Police say the suspect then got out of the vehicle on Euclid Avenue near the trolley station and ran with a gun in his hand.

After a short chase, police said the suspect dropped his weapon and officers were able to arrest the man and confiscate the weapon.

The police have not yet identified the suspect.

No injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing.
