A 4-year-old is dead after a fatal car crash in Delaware County

DELAWARE, Ohio (WCMH) – A child is dead following a two-vehicle crash in Concord Township.

On Saturday at around 4:06 p.m., a silver Dodge Durango (model year 2015) collided with a black Honda Pilot (model year 2025). Several people were injured and a four-year-old boy died.

According to the State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred when the Honda Pilot failed to stop at a stop sign on Moore Road at State Route 745 and was struck by the other vehicle. Both cars left the road.

The Honda then struck a mailbox, a fire hydrant and a tree before overturning, cops said. There were three passengers in the car: two adults, ages 40 and 41, and the 4-year-old. Both adults were taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Cops said the child was taken to another hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

After the crash, the Dodge Durango struck a tree, troopers said. Inside were two adults, ages 47 and 53, and three children, ages 7, 9 and 16. Both adults and the 16-year-old were taken to a third hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Highway Patrol. The 7- and 9-year-old were taken to the same hospital as the 4-year-old, where they were treated for minor injuries.

The Highway Patrol reported that all occupants of the Dodge were wearing seat belts, but no one in the Honda was.

According to police, it is not known whether impairment or distraction was involved. The accident remains under investigation.
