A passenger plane with 19 people on board crashed during takeoff in Kathmandu on Wednesday. “Many” on board died, but the pilot was rescued, police in the Nepalese capital told the AFP news agency.

“The pilot was rescued and is being treated,” police spokesman Dan Bahadur Karki told AFP. “Many did not survive.”
