Police in Alaska and US Coast Guard search for missing plane with three people on board

Authorities in Alaska are currently searching for a missing plane with three people on board.

Alaska State Police received a report of a missing aircraft from the U.S. Coast Guard shortly before 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, the state Department of Public Safety said in a statement.

The 1948 Beach Craft Bonanza, a single-propeller aircraft carrying a pilot and two passengers, flew near Mount Crillon in southeast Alaska.

The plane did not arrive as scheduled in Yakutat, about 442 kilometers northwest of Juneau.

State troopers, the Coast Guard and the Alaska Rescue Coordination Center are involved in the ongoing search, the statement said.
