Shahjahanpur (UP), July 21 (PTI) – A 12-year-old boy allegedly raped his eight-year-old cousin in a village here, police said on Sunday.

The victim’s family said the boy allegedly raped her when she was alone at home on Saturday, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sanjay Kumar told PTI.

The girl’s family members were at work when they received the information that she had been injured in an incident, ASP Kumar said.

When they arrived home, the girl’s genitals were bleeding, he added. She was then taken to hospital where her condition is stable.

An FIR has been filed against the accused under Section 65 (2) (rape of a woman below 12 years of age) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, he added.

Efforts are currently underway to catch the fugitive boy, police said.
